Neighbour Day 2024

Thank-you to everyone for a great Neighbour Day 2024!

We played and we feasted. Thanks to Browns Socialhouse for the mini cheesecakes and Native Tongues for their fresh baked mini Mexican donas. A real treat.

Thanks also to local businesses for the door prizes — Y Not Today, AmaNail Boutique, O’Sullivan’s Restaurant and Bar and Browns (again). They’re all great community builders. Check them out.

It was fun to meet so many friendly faces, and we had such a great crew of volunteers. Lonnie brought the music, setting a great vibe as DJ for the event. Andrea, Carrie and Pushpa did a great job with the kids’ crafts, and Clayton and Spencer were busy on the tennis courts teaching pickleball and tennis.

Suzanne (Resilient You Art Therapy) created a neat space for reflection, Jade got the kids playing with her rubber chicken toss, Markus with soccer, and Shimani stayed and kept painting kids faces even as the tents were being taken down around her.

Thanks also to Sarah, Karen and Jacqueline on coffee, and Danny with his gardening advice. We had visits from our local City Councillor Kourtney Penner and the fire crews from the Windsor Park fire station No. 11.

This was our second year hosting the event. Citywide, Neighbour Day is always the third Saturday in June, and our goal is simply to meet other neighbours and create a sense of welcome.

If you’d like to join in next year, send an email to communications@windsorparkCA.ca. We’ll add you to our list. We try to keep the burden light, and know it’s the personal contributions from our volunteers, offered from a place of joy and generosity, that makes all the fun.
